About

Gorphwysfa is situated in
the heart of Snowdonia, and is about ten minutes drive from the base
of Snowdon itself. Moel Siabod which is very popular with walkers is
quarter of a mile away. The area is also known for climbing,
canoeing, mountain biking, and fishing, and is often used by camera
clubs for the beautiful scenery.
The cottage has three public houses within walking distance, all of
which are good eating houses. Cobdens Hotel (which is our favourite)
is our next door neighbour ,the Tyn-y-Coed down the road to the left
and the Bryn Tyrch is famed for its vegan cuisine to the right of
the cottage. The Bryn Glo Café is about ten minutes away by
foot and infamous for its all day breakfasts at reasonable prices.
There is a local post office and
shop for necessities and a local activity centre called the
Pas-y-Brenin; this boasts a climbing wall and dry ski slope which
does very cheap lessons on a Sunday for those just "wanting a
go".
Betys-y-Coed is five minutes
away by car and is extremely popular with holidaymakers for its
shops and scenery including the famous swallow falls. Llandudno is
approximately twenty miles away, whilst Anglesey is approximately
twenty miles in the opposite direction.
You will find a supply of leaflets at the cottage outlining many
local attractions for young and old alike (horse riding, copper
mines etc). |
